Hello everyone,
My name’s Zak Robinson but I’m better known as ZeroEmpires in the world of Age of Empires. Some of you may know me already, but I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and talk about my new role at Relic Entertainment as a Content Specialist for Age of Empires IV.
From the screeching sounds of dialing up the Internet to the slightly beige CRT that my eight-year-old noodle arms could barely lift, practically everything about our experience of using a computer has changed in the last 20 years. Yet the essence of Age of Empires is still very much alive and well on my screen today as it was back then. I’ve had the pleasure of watching the last 9 years of Age of Empires very closely and playing a hand in many of the developments that have brought us to where we are now. It started when I created a YouTube channel called “ZeroEmpires” back in 2011 with the goal to show the world that Age of Empires was still alive and well. Since then I’ve broadcast over a thousand matches, organized many tournaments, helped to raise over $100,000 in prizes for the community, been a beta tester for the Forgotten Empires expansions, and lots more! I’ve watched as our community has grown from a tiny handful of hardcore gamers to an international band of wololo warriors, and I want to take this new opportunity at Relic Entertainment to continue being a part of that.
So it’s with great excitement and enthusiasm that I’ll be joining the Community Team on Age of Empires IV to make it the best that it possibly can be. I hope to bring many years of experience with me and to be an advocate and voice for you, the community that’s made Age of Empires what it is today. I’ll also be helping with running community initiatives, streaming, and video production among other things. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to go into much detail about my role with AoE4 yet, but I’ll also be working with the Community team at World’s Edge on a number of projects both on and off-screen for the other games in the franchise, so keep your eyes open for news about that soon!
The voice of our community is extremely important to us because it’s thanks to your dedication and passion that Age of Empires is still thriving so many years later. Whether you re-discovered the game from your childhood, you’re a brand-new player or you’ve not stopped playing since 1997, your voices are all heard by the community team and it’s our goal to improve your experience and enjoyment of all of the games in the franchise. It’s my passion to push Age of Empires to the next level and it’s something I’ve been working towards over many years, I hope to be able to continue to do that alongside you, the community, and the brilliant people working behind the scenes every day at Relic Entertainment and World’s Edge.
If you ever want to reach me, I’m @ZeroEmpires everywhere and I love hearing from you all!
—Zak Robinson
