Console Friendly User Interface (UI)
The UI for Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition on console has had a complete overhaul. This native Xbox experience means gameplay is comfortable, intuitive and doesn’t overwhelm players with input complexity.
Villager Priority System
Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition on console features the Villager Priority System – a brand new system that allows for accelerated play thanks to villager automation. Using a variety of predefined presets and custom settings, players can assign all their villagers to focus on various areas of resource gathering with just a button press.
Site Menu System
The Site Menu System streamlines build options based on what the player has selected. Simply put, players can select a specific resource (such as Berries) and the Site Menu System will provide the appropriate building options (in this case, a Mill!). From there, a villager will be automatically assigned to finish the action.
Accessibility Options
Featuring a host of accessibility options, Age of Empires IV strives to be an inviting and immersive experience for all players. Some high-level settings include:
- Adjustable difficulty, including Story Mode
- Pick up and play with a controller, or easily plug in a mouse and keyboard instead

Players old and new can jump online to compete, cooperate, or spectate with up to 7 friends in PVP and PVE multiplayer modes on Xbox One Series X I S and up to 3 friends on Xbox One*.
